My husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary with separate vacations. What can I say, the honeymoon is over! Just kidding. ;) He and his brother gifted each other an East Coast baseball stadium tour this Christmas, and the only time the teams they wanted to see had their home games all line up was over our anniversary. So I took the opportunity to fly to NY with him and hang out with my bee pals while he hit up a multi-state tour of the East Coast.
We had a lovely brunch at
Craftbar with 11 bees including
Mrs Dahlia,
Miss Thimble,
Miss Trail Mix,
Miss Hermit Crab (one day before her wedding, oh yes she DID attend!),
Mrs Swan,
Mrs Dorsay,
Mrs Canary,
Mrs Pug,
Mrs Cloud,
Mrs Onion, and
me! Afterwards, a few craft fanatics (and a few troopers) headed to Brooklyn to check out the Renegade Craft Fair.
If you're addicted to Etsy then you MUST go to a
Renegade Craft Fair. Being able to see all your favorite handmade sellers in person is so exciting, and I even met one of my favorite bloggers,
Sarah Neuburger from The Small Object. If you don't know Sarah by name, how about by her cake toppers:
Oh yes, THAT Sarah. :)
There were tons of letterpress and card vendors and great jewelry there:
Laser cut jewelry from
Molly M Designs:
I didn't get a pic of the booth, but
Brookadelphia was there and I finally got my hands on one of their California necklaces. I've been wanting one for so long! Here's mine (mine! mine! mine!), with the star placed over San Francisco:
This is the only evidence I have that Mrs. Dahlia was there, zooming out of my camera shot. She begrudgingly came to just spend the day with us. You can practically hear her thinking, 'When the eff can we get out of here and drink some wine?':
Don't worry, there was wine and about 60 pounds of oysters waiting for her after the Craft Fair. :)
Make her one with bacon. Duh.
One of our favorite booths, hands down, was
Blue Barnhouse. They make the most hilarious cards on Earth (seriously, on the entire planet). We spent at least 30 mins checking out every card, laughing our butts off:
My favorites include the following. If you have a ridiculous and horrible sense of humor (like I do), you have to check out their online store. Here are some wedding-appropriate (appropriate is the wrong word) cards
Blue Barnhouse sells:
Of course, there was NO WAY I was going to pass up
Miaow's booth:
Now I've got this little buddy from
Miaow on my desk. :) It was a great fair!
We celebrated our spoils with a seafood dinner courtesy of my gracious (beautiful awesome and bestest) host for the weekend, Mrs. Canary. She and Mr. Canary taught us how to shuck oysters and we didn't stop until all 96 of the oysters slid down our gullets. Mmm!
Mrs. Dahlia was rewarded for putting up with the crafts. :)
The majority of the vendors at the fair were selling their crafts at below their online prices (and of course, there's no shipping costs). So if there's a
Renegade Craft Fair coming to your area, I highly suggest you go! Upcoming fairs include LA, SF, and Chicago!
My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend with a lovely meal at
Gary Danko and the promise that we will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but play with Billie and rest for an entire two days. It sounds like bliss. :)
Happy 2 years hubby! I hope you're as jealous as I'd be over the seafood dinner you missed. ;)

Awesome!! Bummed I missed it. Looks like it was a fun time! :)
Oh and this is Serena. I don't know how to sign in using xanga. Fail.
Oh I guess I just signed in. I'm so confused.
@wheresmydessert - It is confusing. I love you anyway. :)
Aaaaagh I am weeping that you were at the Renegade fair and I couldn't stalk you. (just kidding (sort of.)) Were you there Saturday or Sunday?
Did you see the Frantic Meerkat booth? I think you would also find their cards hilarious: http://www.franticmeerkat.bigcartel.com/ My favorites are the ones that look like comic panels. (I drink because I love you.)
@Truc - Yesss! Those were amazing cards! Gah the whole fair was fabulous. I was there Saturday. Mrs Canary went again on Sunday (because she is a FaHREAK about crafts!) and said a lot of stuff was totally sold out by then so I'm so glad we got there on Sat. When were you there???
Happy anniversary!!! Two years - woo hoo!
see i'm not the only one that's having problems leaving a comment. that seafood dinner looks amaaaayzing...not so much the craft fair. how come you didn't mention how hot it was.
Yes. I heart crafts... Sunday was very disappointing. The uber-tornado blew away many of the tents.
Mina: You're right... it was really hot! But I was too distracted by the plethora of UH-mazing crafts. Very focused. Next time you should come... or I will have to kidnap you and fee you seafood. ;)
Miss you already, Cathy! Come back soon!
Ah, I was there on Sunday! Hooray for not stalking you. (yet.) hehehe. All the stuff I wanted was still there Sunday, so I was happy!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary.
I'm soooo sad I missed out on the Brooklyn Fair. That Cali necklace is so cute! I was in Brooklyn that Saturday too. BOOO!!! Looks like fun!
I'm jealous!! No fair! I wonder if they make a Washington necklace but then I'm not sure the state is as interesting looking. I wish I had been there for oysters, craft fair and bees!
Oh, and Happy Anniversary!
