  • Home for the Holiday

It was a bee-filled Labor Day weekend for me! Most importantly, we spent less than a couple hours on the road total, which makes it a raving success.

The Jellyfish wedding was at a nearby winery, and of course, gorgeoso.

We partied into the night and came home with two sizeable bags of candy from the candy buffet. We woke up with Reeses Pieces in our bed. Nothing gross, gutterbrain---we were literally sloppily eating candy in bed while we were passing out. I should probably start dieting soon for Thailand. Wait, no. That sounds like a horrible idea.

On Monday we headed to Mill Valley to spend the day with Mrs. Pug and her sis and brother in law.

Soondubu (with raw egg, just for me!). I die.

Galbi. I made the rookie mistake of stuffing myself with appetizers and could only eat one rib. Curses.

Japchae. I almost dared to ask for the recipe for this (my favorite noodle dish!) but realized that I'd make it every day until my husband barfed. It is so simple, but so good. Wait... it could be very complicated for all I know.

    Chillin.

Homemade blueberry pie with creme fraiche. The secret is liquor in the pie crust. I divulge all secrets. (Sorrrrryyyy Sonia!)

Sonia and Dave revealed that they're curing their own pancetta in their wine cellar, at which point my husband promptly shat his pants in envy. We left with a sizeable chunk of the goods, and will be preparing one of this weekend's meals for Keeks and Co. with it.

Fatty meat hanging from sticks...one of life's greatest pleasures.

We played Rock Band until the wee hours of 10PM (What, that's late for me). OMG I know I'm the last one on the bandwagon but I've never played Rock Band before and I thought it was probably the funnest game ever. I'm trying to secure a set for when Keeks comes this weekend but I think a new version is coming out soon so all the stores are cleared out of it right now. I'm gonna check GameStop tomorrow for a used set.

And I leave you with some hot pug-on-pug action. You're welcome.

Hope you had a lovely weekend and if you traveled, a safe trip home to wherever you came from!

Vodka in the pie crust, a la America's Test Kitchen?

  • sue_shi

you are correct.  japchae is a very time consuming dish to make.  looks so simple but too much prep work.

Vodka in the pie crust? Brilliantz! Looks like a fantastic weekend--Jellyfish is so naturally beautiful, how could her wedding be anything but gorgeoso?! Also, the Korean food: I need...along with instructions for curing my own pancetta. Who are these bon vivants? Oh yes, The Pugs and their relatives. Speaking of which, thank you, indeed, for the lasting visual of the pug action. Love your photos!!!

pugs and pork product.... what could be better? and no need to apologize for the vodka-in-the-piecrust 'secret' -- the more that gets out, the less piss-poor piecrust will be made.

Sounds like a fabulous weekend!! Those pugs are too cute.

I have a PS3 (plays Blue Ray) that we are selling, along with a many boy games, and rock band plus one guitar... if you're interested make us an offer we can't refuse :) We are moving to New Zealand and have to sell almost everything.
